I have always heard that you will never change your life until you change the habits that you do daily. It takes effort, consistency and discipline, and I truly believe, if you don't do it now, you will regret it in the future. This can apply this to many things, from your health to your budget, your mindset, and your lifestyle. As a Nurse Practitioner in my wellness clinic, I am reminded on a regular basis that many people only see and search for results, and don't expect or acknowledge the work it takes to get there. It's easy to say, "must be nice" when you see nice houses and cars, or a strong body, or vacation photos.... but what we completely overlook is the effort it took to get there. Hours, and years, of working and effort to make things happen and get results.
While I don't have all the answers, I do know the value in adding a daily goal to my life... actually a few now.... A couple years ago my husband and I made a resolution to walk 10,000 steps per day. We still do this religiously, and it is now just part of our lives. I can't even imagine going to bed at night without that buzz on my FitBit https://amzn.to/4k75VzQ telling me I reached my goal. It has been great for us in many ways, not just physical health, but mental health and in the conversations, and the competition we have.
My resolution this year was adding my morning rebounding. I get up, make my coffee, jump on my trampoline (rebounder) for a few minutes- every single day. I have been happily surprised by the change in my muscle tone and skin texture, and it's fun- it makes me wake up and feel alive. It's a cheap addition to my daily routine, it has so many benefits and it's fun... https://amzn.to/43nZVgq
(Don't let the picture fool you, it's simple jumping that gives you all the benefits!) Nothing is costing me a lot of money, it's just a little time and effort- every single day. As we age, our health is truly our greatest asset. Start today, find something you like to do, and do it daily. Whether you choose to make a step goal, go to the gym, rebound, whatever it is.... you will find the benefits are more than you even expect.
